7 Wonders of China - The Hanging Monastery (Digital)
The Hanging Monastery is built about a third of the way up a vertical cliff in the Golden Dragon Canyon of Mount Heng.
The pavilions of this monastery cling miraculously to the sheer cliff face. The most characteristic feature is the elaborate wooden facade of pavilions and linking zig-zag walkways precariously resting on timbers jutting out horizontally and vertically from the cliff.
This series explores the history of 7 wonders of China. It follows the engineers and emperors behind the wonders, tracing their work and depicting the human stories behind their creations. It is a stunning celebration of man's ingenuity and resolve.
