Australian identity was based on the White Australia policy - white was right. It took over sixty years for this central plank of our nationhood to be overturned and replaced.
This series looks at Australia's march to full independence, our desire to create a land of the 'fair go'; the unfinished business of relations with Aboriginal Australia and the reliance on the great and powerful friends of Britain and the US.
