7 Wonders of China - The Leshan Buddha
The Leshan Giant Buddha is the largest stone sculpture of Buddha in the world. Looking solemn and stately, the Buddha is a grand 71 metres high.
The records show that the carving of the Leshan Dafo began in AD713 but even after 1200 years, the statue is fully intact. One major factor in its longevity is its ancient but ingenious internal hidden water drainage system.
This series explores the history of 7 wonders of China. It follows the engineers and emperors behind the wonders, tracing their work and depicting the human stories behind their creations. It is a stunning celebration of man's ingenuity and resolve.
